Head of Adult Services, Dover Town Library (Dover)
The Dover Town Library seeks a Head of Adult Services to oversee reference, programming, technology, and collection management for adults in a library that deeply values creating a welcoming, inspiring, and responsive space to support a thriving community. Dover’s adult population primarily ranges from parents and caregivers of young children to new empty-nesters to active and involved seniors. The Head of Adult Services plans, prioritizes, and advocates for all of them while nurturing longstanding collaborations with groups like the Council on Aging and Parks & Recreation.
This role reports to the Library Director and supervises the work of 2 full-time and 7 part-time staff whose talents and time are shared among the departments. The successful candidate will have strong technology and training skills; enthusiasm for reference, programming, and collection development; exceptional customer service skills; and a commitment to professional development for both themselves and the staff they supervise.
Hours: 35 hours per week, working one evening per week and a regular Saturday rotation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Masters of Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program with a minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in public library services, or any demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
