The Peabody Institute Library of Danvers is seeking applications for the full-time benefitted position of Assistant Head of Children's Services. The Assistant Head of Children's Services is responsible for all aspects of children's services, including collection development, reader's advisory, community outreach and the planning and execution of programming for children ages 0 to 11.
If you have recent experience working with kids and with working in libraries, you might be the right fit here! We are looking for someone who has a positive outlook and energy and is ready to jump into our busy Children's department. We offer everything from the traditional crafts and story times to bilingual playgroups and graphic novel book clubs. Knowledge of children's literature is a must. We are always interested in expanding and growing our services and programs. Bring your skills and ideas here!
Our Children's department is an active participant in school visits and in town events like the Pride Party and Hispanic Heritage Month Celebracion.
A typical work week for this position is 35 hours, that includes some evening and weekend hours. Excellent benefits. This is a union position. The work schedule for the position: Monday 1pm-9pm, Tuesday 9am-5pm, Wednesday 9am-5pm, Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday 9am-5pm, every third Saturday 9am-5pm.

Qualifications
The Peabody Institute Library will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in the qualification section of the job description is labeled required. Bachelor's degree required; Masters in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school preferred. Two (2+) plus years of library experience that includes working with children's programming strongly desired, direct work experience with children required; or any equivalent combination of education or experience.
