Adult Literacy Teacher, Part-Time, Springfield City Library (Springfield)
The Springfield City Library is home to Read/Write/Now, a long-standing adult basic education program serving local people at the beginning of their literacy journey. Due to a promotion, we have a vacancy to fill and seek applications for an Adult Literacy Teacher, part-time (18.5 hours a week).
Teachers at the Read/Write/Now Adult Learning Center are responsible for teaching adult basic education in reading, writing and math; creating lesson plans, assessing student learning gains, completing all required documentation, and maintaining confidential student records. Work is performed under the direction of the Branch Manager with assistance from the Adult Learning Coordinator. This part-time (18.5 hours a week) job pays $26,987.48 annually. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably in teaching adults
The City of Springfield has a residency requirement, and allows new hires up to two years to establish residency in the City.
