Library Staff Assistant, Marlborough Public Library (Marlborough)
The Marlborough Public Library received funding to restore our Sunday hours. We are looking to hire 4 part-time Library Staff Assistants to work in the Circulation, Children's or Teen area. These positions are up to 10 hours a week, part of the MMEA union, include sick and vacation time, and a generous yearly education stipend.
Your main responsibility would be staffing our Circulation, Children's or Teen desks, providing excellent customer service, and assisting with daily operations of those departments including processing delivery, returns, assisting patrons with check outs and museum passes, providing patron assistance with printing.
Availability on Sundays 1-5 from September-May is a must. Ideally some Saturdays as well. Weekday hours will be available.
Qualifications
A successful candidate will have a positive attitude; a desire to help people; the ability to learn new technology and adapt well to change; strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Must be reliable. Familiarity with Spanish, Portuguese desirable. Retail experience is a plus.
Requirements include a high school diploma, ability to receive, understand, interpret and carry out library policies and procedures, one year experience in customer service, flexibility in scheduling including regularly assigned evening and weekend hours. Must be capable of operating computers and various pieces of office equipment, must have the ability to move around the facility; walking, sitting, bending, climbing, kneeling, carrying, stooping, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
