Library Director, Sharon Public Library (Sharon)
Professional, administrative, and supervisory work directing the programs and operations of the municipal Library; overseeing all Library services and
resources; and all other related work, as required.
Qualifications
Education/Experience: Applicant must possess:
● Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited school.
● At least five years of progressively responsible professional library experience, including demonstrated administrative and supervisory responsibility at a public library.
● Current certification by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skill
Knowledge. Applicant must have a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of professional library work and of the organization and
management of Library operations, including administration, personnel, and finance. Considerable knowledge of the use of computers, software, and technology for Library functions is required.
Ability. Applicant must have the ability to direct the work of professional and nonprofessional staff, most of whom are part of the SEIU union, including: the
ability to meet, work, and deal with people effectively and appropriately; the ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing; and the ability to
Skill. Applicant must have excellent planning and organizational skills, a broad interest in learning and literature, budgetary skills, excellent customer service skills, skill in pursuing and administering grants, writing and communication skills, and excellent supervisory skills.
