Head of Children's Services, Dover Town Library (Dover)

Due to a retirement, the Dover Town Library seeks a Head of Children’s Services to oversee programming, collection development, outreach, readers' advisory services, and other initiatives for children and families in a library that deeply values creating a welcoming, inspiring, and responsive space to support a thriving community.  Dover has an active population of families with young children, and our flagship program, Super Awesome Fun Time, draws enthusiastic participation.

This role reports to the Library Director and supervises the work of 2 full-time and 7 part-time staff whose talents and time are shared among the departments.  The successful candidate will have a passion for working with children and families; strong programming and collection development skills; exceptional customer service skills; abundant creativity, flexibility, and team spirit; and a commitment to professional development for both themselves and the staff they supervise.  A good sense of humor is a great bonus.

Hours: 35 hours per week, working one evening per week and every fifth Saturday.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Masters of Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program with a minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in public library services, or any demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
