Substitute Library Assisant (part-time), RICHARDS MEMORIAL LIBRARY (Paxton)
Richards Memorial Library - Paxton is seeking a Substitute Library Assistant. We are a small and busy library in the heart of Paxton. This is a substitute position with no guaranteed hours. Hours: Must have availability for one or more of these shifts: Tuesdays 4-6pm, Wednesdays 3:30-5pm and/or Fridays 3:30-5pm. Occasional daytime, evening and Saturday hours to cover shifts for staff vacation/sick days.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Examples of duties Collect materials from the outside book drop. Organize and shelve books and adhere to shelving rules and procedures. Assist patrons with computers and printers. Assist library staff. Process and weed books as needed. Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL, MOTOR, AND VISUAL SKILLS
Physical Skills. Physical demands are required to perform much of the work. The work involves periods of standing, with intermittent periods of reaching, stooping, and walking. May be required to lift or move objects such as book trucks, boxes of books, office supplies, and office supplies and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
Motor Skills. Manual dexterity is required for processing materials, laminating, cutting, pasting, crafting, and similar activities. Duties require motor skills for activities such as moving objects, using office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, personal computers, handheld technology, and other office equipment. Requires manual dexterity in combination with eye-hand coordination for efficient and accurate keyboard input, data entry and shelving.
Visual Skills. The employee must be able to view computer screens and numbers, read reports and print-outs for analytical purposes for extended periods of time. High volume environment with high accuracy requirements for numeric and alpha processing. Visual demands require routinely reading documents for general understanding and analytical purposes.
Qualifications
Must be proficient with computers and have working knowledge of Windows, Chrome, Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive, and basic search techniques. Recent library experience or customer service is preferred. Must possess the ability to organize materials in alphabetical order and numerical order. Attention to detail.
