Electronic Resources Manager, Massachusetts Library System (Marlborough)

The Massachusetts Library System (MLS) is hiring an Electronic Resources Manager to coordinate the Commonwealth Ebooks Collections and state-wide database support.   The successful candidate will be well organized, able to multi-task, work independently and have impeccable customer-service skills. Proficiency with spreadsheets and Microsoft office software a plus.  Specific qualifications and responsibilities for this position are detailed below.

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) exempt position. The candidate will work from either MLS office (Marlborough or Northampton) as well as commute throughout the. state.  After the candidate is established at this position, they may have the option of telecommuting in consultation with their supervisor.  MLS telecommuters must meet connectivity and equipment standards.

Qualifications

The Electronic Resources Manager is responsible for managing the resource sharing programs at the Massachusetts Library System (MLS) that include Commonwealth eBook Collections and statewide databases. The incumbent works with relevant members, staff, committees, representatives of partnering organizations and stakeholders. The incumbent participates in other resource sharing-related activities, contributes to resource sharing strategy at MLS, and promotes effective communications with MLS members, partners, stakeholders, and staff members.

Required Skills and Experience:
• Education: A Master of Library Science degree from a library school accredited by the American Library Association.
• Strong internal and external customer service focus.
• Ability to interact favorably and to communicate effectively, in speech and writing with library personnel, staff, and partners individually and in groups.
• Excellent office computer skills.
• Ability to lead and to coordinate including relationship building/management, project management and program evaluation.
• Ability to initiate, organize and work independently.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all MLS stakeholders.
• The willingness and ability to learn, adapt, and grow.

Desirable experience:
• Three years of experience with libraries and related library resource sharing and electronic resources preferred.

Position Responsibilities:
• Coordinates the lifecycle of program participation including enrollment, activation, invoicing, renewals, and technical support for Commonwealth eBook Collections.
• Purchases content and maintains shared e-book and e-content collections for the Commonwealth eBook Collections; ensures adequate collection funds.
• Maintains relationships with key contacts at member libraries, partners and vendors related to electronic resources.
• Coordinates training and support sessions for Commonwealth eBook Collections as well as the state-wide databases.
• Compiles and maintains Commonwealth eBook Collections statistics, on-line guides and support, and supplemental program materials.
• Provides direct support to libraries.
• Compiles and produces statistical reports for MLS.
• Actively participates in resource sharing-related planning and efforts.
• Participates in committees and task forces both at MLS and in the library community at large.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$64,032.00 - $89,652.00  /  year

Salary Notes

Salary range w/ midpoint is: $64,032 - $76,842 - $89,652. Starting salary will will be based on education and experience.
