Youth Services Librarian, Raynham Public Library (Raynham)
The Raynham Library seeks a full time Youth Services Librarian who is passionate about library services for young patrons from birth through high school and is highly interested in engaging with our community of 15,000 residents.
This position requires one night a week and a Saturday rotation every 3 weeks. This is a non union position with full benefits.
Under the direction of the Library Director, the Youth Services Librarian performs professional and supervisory work in planning, managing, implementing and executing a comprehensive program of library services. The goals of service include fostering literacy, encouraging reading for enrichment and pleasure, and teaching the use of the public library as a lifelong resource.
Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential, as well as the ability to function as a member of a team. Position requires enthusiasm, energy, flexibility, creativity and a genuine desire and ability to work with youth of all ages. Intermediate computer skills required.
Responsibilities:
-Plans and coordinates the operation of Youth Services.
-Coordinates and executes programs including Summer Reading Programs for Children and Teens, reading contests, passive programming, etc.
-Acts as a reference resource for patrons of all ages; locates materials, provides readers advisory services and instruction in the use of the catalog and other information resources.
-Responsible for collection development; selecting, purchasing, weeding.
-Creates library displays.
-Prepares monthly statistics.
-Creates social media for Youth Services (IG and FB).
-Prepares monthly Book Bundles for our young patrons.
-Coordinates teen volunteers.
-Facilitates monthly Teen Advisory Group meetings/programs.
-Performs outreach services to schools and the wider community to promote library services and programs.
-Enforces library policies.
Qualifications
-Excellent customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, ability to effectively interact with patrons in a friendly and courteous manner, ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with coworkers.
-Intermediate level computer skills; Windows 11, GDrive, pcs, printers, etc.
-WordPress, Canva, and Meta Business Suite experience a plus.
-Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize tasks within established timeframes, and work with frequent interruptions.
-Maintain patron privacy and confidentiality of patron records.
