Part Time Children's Librarian, Springfield City Library (Springfield)

The Springfield City Library seeks applications for a part-time Children's Librarian in the Children's Room at the Central Library, the heart of our busy library system. Come work at our forward-looking, award-winning public library. We are recruiting talented, community-engaged candidates for 18.5 hours a week job. The Children's Librarian is part of a four person team with shared responsibilities for collection development of print and non-print materials, programming, reference services, outreach, community engagement, and similar duties pertaining to children’s services, and assisting in developing and providing system-wide children’s services. The Central Library opened to the public in 1912. Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and the completion of an American Library Association-accredited Masters of Library Science. Candidates currently enrolled in an MLS program may also be considered. You'll need an excellent customer service orientation; and a "turned outward" approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or other community language). The City of Springfield has a residency requirement and allows new hires up to two years to establish residency. The annual salary is $26,987.48, with the opportunity (optional) to earn more by working extra hours, including 5 hour shifts on Sundays, with Sunday hours paid at time and a half.

13 paid holidays include Juneteenth. The job is part of a union, and the contract includes a 2% raise effective 7/1/26.
