Library Associate, Norwell Public Library (Norwell)

The Library Associate provides paraprofessional support to professional library staff through the performance of varied duties and tasks.  Performs professional level duties requiring a thorough knowledge of library procedures, organization, and operations.  Must exercise judgement and initiative to perform duties; must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Reports to the Library Director or his/her designee. 

This is a part-time, non-benefited year-rund position with assigned days/work times as follows:

Tuesday:  10:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m. 

Thursday:  12 noon to 3:00 p.m. 

Saturday:  Every other Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:  Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree highly desirable.  Minimum of one year previous library experience; knowledge of library classification systems, procedures, and practices; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:  Knowledge of common library e-resources, mobile devices, and current library technology.  Strong computer skills required; experience using SirsiDynex WorkFlows or other integrated library system preferred.  Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.  Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail; experience working independently and as part of a team.

Salary Notes

FY'26 is $21.18 per hour. Effective FY'27 (July 1, 2026) the pay rate is $21.60 per hour.
