Communications Manager, Congregational Library & Archives (Boston)

Description

The Communications Manager will implement a comprehensive external communications program through print, web, social media, and email marketing strategies.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

●     Collaborate with CLA staff to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to publicize programs, support fundraising goals, and build the CLA community across socials, web, email, advertising, and with external partners. 

●     Create original content and manage the CLA’s social media presence (including Facebook, Bluesky, Instagram, and YouTube).

●     Manage the writing, design, and strategic implementation of newsletters and regular promotional emails.

●     Manage the CLA’s WordPress website, including web edits, blogposts, development of new features/content, and event calendar/listings.

●     Create promotional content (flyers, handouts, banners, brochures, swag, etc.) for CLA staff to use at meetings with external stakeholders.

●     Coordinate external and internal contributors for the CLA’s bi-annual magazine and work with an external graphic designer to lead the project from planning to completion.

●     Record, edit, transcribe, post, and promote videos of the CLA's programs.

●     Develop collaborative relationships with communication professionals in peer organizations.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

·         Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, or relevant field

●     2-3 years of experience in communications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

●     Experience implementing communications strategies as well as using data to drive content strategies.

●     Experience managing social media accounts and creating original content.

●     Strong writing with impeccable grammar and good basic design skills.

●     Experience with a variety of communications software is essential, along with willingness and ability to learn on the job. 

●     Previous experience with email marketing/CRM software, Adobe suite, photo and video editing, WordPress, Zoom, and social media campaigns, are required for this role.

●     Curiosity about American, Congregational, and/or religious history.
