Part-time Library Technician – Jones Library & Branches
Job Summary:
The Jones Library System seeks a creative and energetic Library Technician to work part-time at our three Amherst locations: The Jones Library, North Amherst Library, and Munson Memorial Library. This position works under the general supervision of the appropriate Library Department Head (i.e., Head of Borrower Services or Head of Branch Services).
We are looking for an individual who displays a genuine enjoyment of welcoming and working with people of all ages; who enjoys work that supports and strengthens the community; who has great communication skills and is committed to providing excellent customer service; and is excited about opportunities to provide educational and recreational services to Library visitors.
Duties include:
· Provides exceptional customer service and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
· Uses Library computer system to check out and in Library materials; registers and updates patron records; locates requested materials for patrons; answers questions on how to use the Library; directs patrons to other staff members as appropriate.
· Explains Library policies; answers telephone calls.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, PLUS one (1) to three (3) years’ experience working with various types of library software (e.g., CW MARS Evergreen circulation software); experience working in a customer service capacity with people of all ages; experience working with various types of computer software; interest in reading; ability to pay close attention to detail; ability to handle stressful situations. Must be available to work evening and weekend shifts.
We are hiring for two part-time positions. The hiring range is from $15.76 to $21.18 in 11 steps. The required schedules are as follows:
Schedule 1 (19.5 hours per week at the Jones Library)
· Saturday 1:00pm-5:15pm
· Sunday 1:00pm-5:15pm
· Monday 9:00am-5:30pm
· Friday 2:30pm-5:30pm
Schedule 2 (18.5 hours per week at Munson Memorial Library)
· Tuesday 1:30pm-5:30pm
· Wednesday 1:45pm-7:30pm
· Thursday 1:30am-5:30pm
· Saturday 8:30am-1:15pm
