Teen Services & Youth Programming Librarian (full time), Middletown Public Library (Middletown, RI)
The Middletown Public Library in Rhode Island is looking for a full-time Teen Services & Youth Programming Librarian to join our team at one of the most exciting moments in the library's history!
As we prepare to move into a newly renovated library building that is more than twice the size of our current facility, we are looking for a creative, enthusiastic librarian who is passionate about connecting with teens, developing engaging programs, and helping shape the future of youth services in our community.
This is an exciting opportunity to help build something new.
The Teen Services & Youth Programming Librarian will take a leading role in developing teen services and overseeing our brand-new Teen Center, creating a welcoming space where teens can connect, explore their interests, express themselves, and feel a sense of belonging. Responsibilities include developing teen programs, coordinating a Teen Advisory Board and teen volunteer opportunities, and building meaningful relationships with local schools and community organizations.
While teen services will be the primary focus, this position is also an important part of our broader Youth Services team, collaborating on programs and experiences for children and families. The librarian will also work across departments to help create ambitious library-wide events and programs for all ages.
We believe libraries create community by creating meaningful experiences. Whether through a teen after-hours event, a creative workshop, a school partnership, a family program, or an immersive library-wide mystery, we're looking for someone who brings creativity, curiosity, and enthusiasm to their work.
This job might be for you if:
-You are passionate about working with teens and creating a space where they feel welcomed, valued, and heard.
-You enjoy developing creative, engaging programs that bring people together.
-You believe teens should have a voice in shaping their library experiences.
-You enjoy collaborating with colleagues and contributing to programs for children, teens, families, and the broader community.
-You are excited about building relationships with schools, youth-serving organizations, and community partners.
-You are comfortable taking initiative, trying new ideas, and helping develop services in a brand-new library space.
-You believe every child and teen deserves a welcoming, inclusive library where they feel they belong.
-Your public service is rooted in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community.
Join a collaborative, forward-thinking team working to create a welcoming and dynamic library for the Middletown community!
