Partnerships

In addition to working closely with our affiliates, MBLC collaborates with partner organizations to expand the services we provide to librarians and the library community. Some current major partnerships are highlighted here; this list is not intended to be comprehensive or historical.

Boston Bruins

Since 2009, the MBLC has partnered with the Boston Bruins to increase literacy by encouraging children, teens and adults to participate in statewide summer library programs. Each summer a Boston Bruins player is featured on a special READ poster and the team comes up with a Recommended Reads list of their favorite books. Bruins mascot Blades makes special library visits and the team generously donates summer reading prizes that include in-game experiences like riding the Zamboni and high-fiving the players as they take the ice. Participation in statewide summer programming has increased 55% since 2010.

Since 2017, the Social Law Library has provided free at the library access to their legal databases for all public libraries in Massachusetts.
