Collections Manager, Millis Public Library (Millis)
The Town of Millis is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented candidate for the position of Collections Manager. This is a 21 hour-per-week, benefits eligible, union position at the Millis Public Library. Regular schedule to include daytime hours, one evening a week, and one Saturday a month.
Essential functions:
- Responsible for planning, managing, and promoting dynamic and effective collections for adult patrons
- Assists the Bookkeeper in processing accounts payable and receivable
- Assists the Library Director in creating and managing the Library’s annual budget for Library Materials, Library Supplies, Office Supplies, and Maintenance Supplies
- Orders and maintains tax forms and booklets
- Manages the Library’s museum pass management software
- Provides reference, readers’ advisory, e-library, and technology assistance to patrons.
- Provides exceptional service to all patrons, keeping with the Library’s Public Service Statement.
- Checks materials in and out, issues new and replacement library cards, processes room and museum pass reservations, collects fines, answers and directs telephone calls.
- Participates in local, network, regional, and state meetings and professional associations. Participate in professional development and training opportunities.
- Opens and securely closes the Library as required.
- Performs similar or related work and work on special projects, as required, directed, or as the situation requires.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a working knowledge of Library methods and procedures, strong public service skills, and solid organizational and computer skills. Some collection development coursework or experience strongly preferred.
Moderate physical effort required in carrying and moving boxes of books and other materials, which could weigh up to 30 pounds. Must be able to read, use a keyboard, and view a computer monitor.
