Reference Librarian, Swampscott PUblic Library (Swampscott)

           This is a 28 hour benefited position which includes one evening and alternating Saturdays. The reference librarian assists with regularly scheduled coverage of the Reference Desk; interlibrary loan activities and training the public on the use of computers, the Internet, electronic databases, and other technology resources. Provides information, reference and research assistance to library users in direct consultation, by phone, or email; and responsible for the collection development of nonfiction materials. The Reference, represents the library at network meetings, and performs other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

            MLS from an ALA accredited institution.

            Experience in a public library setting strongly preferred.                                          

            Strong public service orientation and skills           

            Comfortable with Excel and Word and social media

            Comfortable with or able to learn website management

            Demonstrated ability with technology, including library automation, social media, and    

            digital resources.

            Able to assist with grant writing

            Creativity and ability to plan, develop, execute and supervise programming.                 

            Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.

            Physically able to bend, stretch and lift materials up to approximately 40 pounds.
