PT Program/Event Coordinator & Library Assistant, Lawrence Library (Pepperell)

The Lawrence Library seeks a creative person with a strong customer service orientation to work one morning, three evenings, and three Saturdays per month.


·         Responsible for planning, marketing, conducting, and facilitating Adult and Young Adult programs.

·         Research, make contact and negotiate with potential program presenters and performers.

·         Lead several programs each month, including obtaining and preparing all necessary materials.

·         Maintain a variety of ongoing programs while introducing new and special events that respond to customer and community demand.

·         Coordinate programs to work into library initiatives and community events.

·         Set up and clean up program space, assist presenter(s), and ensure a pleasant experience.

·         Employ various marketing strategies and methods to reach a broad audience.

·         Submit marketing materials to media outlets, writing press releases, and maintaining press contacts.

·         Prepare in-house publicity and upload events onto the library's online events calendar.

Circulation desk coverage would be 'as needed' which is required of all library employees. Duties might include:

Checks items in and out for patrons.
Registers patrons for library cards, communicates policies to patrons, fills patrons’ requests or holds, issues fees/fines.
Answers telephone, addresses patron questions, assists with the copier, scanner and fax machines, general shelving duties.

Work schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings 5 pm - 9 pm; Tuesdays 10 am – 1 pm and three Saturdays per month, 10 am – 2 pm. Other daytime hours as needed. Average 19 hours/week.


Bachelor Degree required; MLS a plus. Individuals must demonstrate clear verbal and written communications, excellent people skills, and possess a demeanor of accessibility and helpfulness. Ability to work both independently and as a team member. Must be physically capable of loading and unloading books into bins for transport to other libraries, table and chair set up for programs. Courses in programming, reference, computers, related experience in a library setting  and Evergreen experience a plus.
