Library Director, Louis B. Goodall Memorial Library (Sanford, ME)

LIBRARY DIRECTOR ADVERTISEMENT



The Goodall Library in Sanford, Maine is seeking a dynamic leader with a passion for library advocacy to become our new Library Director.  Goodall Library was established in 1937 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Library serves a community of 21,000 residents, and is located in the southeastern part of the state.  Recent growth and development of the community is visible in its new state-of-the-art High School, a fiber optic broadband network, and miles of walking and biking trails.  We are home to various parks, ponds and rivers, and to the Sanford International Film Festival.

Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Library Director is responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of Library operations to effectively and efficiently serve the needs of the public.  We are seeking a candidate with strong communications skills, experience in management and human relations, and progressively responsible service in a library environment.

Minimum requirements for the position include:

·    Master’s degree in Library/Information Science from an ALA accredited program with 3 to 5 years’ experience in library management.

·    In lieu of a Master’s Degree, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5 to 10 years’ specifically in library management may be considered.

·    Proven administrative and supervisory experience and skills

·    Ability and experience in budget preparation and management

·    Knowledge of and ability to follow accepted professional library practices

·    Excellent human relations, communications and organizational skills

·    Demonstrated excellent public relations skills

·    An extensive knowledge of and ability to apply information and library technology.



Salary Range of $52,000-$64,000 along with a generous benefit package are offered.

We anticipate that the new director will begin work December 1, 2019.
