Library Associate for Youth Services, Rowley Public Library (Rowley)

Responsibilities include planning, developing, promoting, and providing services to children from infancy to high school and their families. The position is responsible for developing and implementing programs, such as the following: story times for babies through preschool; student afterschool programs; a children’s summer reading program; school tours; and special events. The position also is responsible for developing the Children’s Room collection and for providing community outreach to local schools, nursery schools, daycare centers, and homeschooling families. The successful candidate for this position must be dependable, flexible, conscientious, and demonstrate sound judgement. This position requires strong computer skills and experience using: Microsoft Office programs; library software, such as Symphony software; and social media platforms. The position requires strong customer service skills and knowledge of children’s and young adult literature, as well as internet and technology literacy is required. The Library Associate will supervise a part-time Library Assistant for Youth Services and Library Pages and works under the supervision of the Library Director. 

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include Bachelor’s Degree in related field such as Library & Information Studies, Children’s Literature, or Education or the equivalent.  Two or more years of library experience is preferred.

Position works 28-30 hours per week and includes benefits. FY 20 starting rate is $23.37 /hour. Non-union, Grade 7
