Coordinator of Library Services, Lynn Campus Library

MCCC/MTA Unit Position, Grade 6

North Shore Community College seeks an enthusiastic, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to serve as Coordinator of Library Services in the Lynn campus library.  The Coordinator of Library Services reports to the Director, Library & Learning Resource Services, is a part of the library leadership team, and is responsible for supervising all aspects of the operations of the Lynn campus library serving students, faculty, staff and community users.  The successful candidate must enjoy working with our diverse library users and staff, and welcome the challenges of developing and maintaining innovative ways of delivering materials and services that support student success. The ideal candidate will excel in providing strong leadership, maintaining and cultivating good working relationships, and fostering cross-department collaboration and mutual understanding through effective communication.


Oversee all Lynn Library services to students, faculty and staff, including reference, instruction, circulation, interlibrary loan, and course reserves.
Coordinate daily activities within the Lynn Library and serve as administrative lead for Lynn library computer systems, spaces, and facilities.
Provide leadership and direction to the Lynn Library Public Services professional and classified staff. Establishes and reviews policies, procedures, goals and objectives for the staff at the Lynn campus.
Develop and oversee reference, access services, and other staffing schedules.  Participates in staffing and serves as a backup for other staff in their absence.
Provide direct supervision of all full and part-time library assistants at the Lynn campus library.  Develop staff training materials, writes performance evaluations and conducts evaluation meetings.
Coordinate, schedule, hire, train, and maintain contracts of part time staff.
As part of the library leadership team, coordinate the Lynn library practices and procedures with those of the other two departments of the NSCC libraries -- the Technical Services and the Danvers campus Public Services. Meet regularly with the Director and other Library Coordinators to discuss, plan and make recommendations with regard to Library services, resources, and spaces. Participate in strategic and long-range planning, and in developing policies and procedures to provide clear direction and priorities in the context of the library's strategic directions.
Plan and implement library instruction to support NSCC's information literacy and curricular learning objectives.  Collaborate with teaching faculty and other librarians to develop and assess the effectiveness of instructional programs that promote information literacy within the curriculum. 
Contribute to developing Access Services policies and procedures; provide backup staffing for Access services
Assesses user needs and the effectiveness of library services and resources. Oversee collection of statistics for Public Services and provide statistical reports
Make budget recommendations and prepare purchase/lease recommendations.  Participate in overseeing acquisitions and collection development in both print and electronic areas. Establish and maintain vendor relationships. 
Coordinate the Library Liaison program and undertake outreach activities to promote and collaborate with faculty on Library resources, services, services, and spaces.
Contribute to Library web page, library programs and displays.
Interact with various agencies, other libraries, and organizations, such as HELM
Represent Lynn Library on Library and/or College committees and at related meetings
Other duties as required by the Director of the Library

Additional Information:

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $59,939.00 - $63,000.00.   Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement.

Master's Degree in Library and Information Science (MLS) or closely related field; with five (5) years' experience and/or training involving library operations, reference service, bibliographic instruction, circulation service, copy cataloging and library information systems; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Academic Library experience preferred.
Strong experience with information literacy
Experience with assessment and data-driven planning
Prior supervisory experience.
Must show initiative, ability to motivate others, and ability to function in and promote a team-oriented environment
Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve complaints or problems effectively
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Strong commitment to responsive and proactive library services and commitment to working with a diverse faculty and student population; proven work in promoting library services to faculty, students and staff
Demonstrated creative approaches to work, coupled with attention to detail and a high level of enthusiasm
Experience with participating in library strategic planning
Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
The candidate selected must travel between campuses, as needed, and participate in College/Library-related meetings
Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.
