Library Circulation Assistant - Part Time, substitute, two positions, Needham Free Public Library (Needham)

The Town of Needham is seeking highly skilled individuals to fill the part-time position of Library Circulation Assistant at the Needham Free Public Library.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):
• Collaborate with library patrons; assisting them with information and/or directing them to appropriate locations or staff
• Process library checkouts, renewals, returns, reserves, fines, registrations
• Maintain orderliness of materials collection
• Perform other circulation procedures as required

Hours: Availability must include at least two morning, afternoon, or evening shifts
and one full weekend day per week.  Shifts will vary depending on department need each week.


To be considered for the position, applicants must have at least:
• Excellent customer service skills and capacity to interact effectively and tactfully with the general public
• Familiarity with computers
• Ability to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently
• Capability to adapt to new technologies as required
• Capability of standing for 4 hours at a time. If working a full day, there will be a lunch break and two fifteen-minute breaks.
• Capability of bending, lifting up to 40 lbs., and pushing book carts loaded with books.

Hourly Salary: $18.00 per hour (L Schedule)
