Adult Services Librarian, Adams Free Library (Adams)

The Town of Adams is seeking a dynamic, energetic, self-motivated and people-oriented individual to fill an Adult Services Librarian position for the Adams Free Library. This position provides professional librarian services to the general public; assists with reference services; coordinates adult collection development and adult programs with the Library Director; provides administrative and clerical support work to assist the Director, and supervises the operation of the library in the absence of the Director.  In addition, the Adult Services Librarian is also responsible for the regional automated interlibrary loan and resource sharing system. This is a full-time, permanent 35 hours per week position including some evenings and weekend hours.  


A successful candidate requires a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree in Library Science preferred), plus three years of progressively responsible experience in a public library with some reference experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.  Applicant should have a working knowledge of library policies, procedures, methods, practices and materials; online reference sources; Internet; computer applications and library system software.  Excellent oral and written communication skills, advanced computer skills with the ability to troubleshoot public computer problems and the ability to set priorities and complete projects independently and as a team member are required.
