Library Director, Erving Public Library (Erving)

The Town of Erving, Massachusetts is seeking candidates for the full-time, benefited position of Library Director.  The successful candidate will work to grow community-focused programs and services, both within the Library and with other Town departments.   This position works 40 hours per week, year-round. Duties include: work in close cooperation with the Board of Library Trustees in directing library activities, operations, and services and in developing policies, plans, budgets, goals, and reports for the library; select, train, and supervise library staff and volunteers; work during library public hours (currently Sunday through Thursday 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM) including greeting patrons, responding to requests for assistance, processing inter-library loans, and checking out and shelving books; maintain the library's collection and equipment; oversee use of the community rooms; create and support a mutually supportive teamwork environment.  Reports directly to the three (3) member Board of Library Trustees.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Baccalaureates degree with a Master’s Degree in Library Science preferred, three to five (3-5) years of library administration of which 1 to 2 years are in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  Experience with library circulation systems (Evergreen preferred) and databases, word processing, spreadsheet programs, and the selection and purchasing of Library materials. Must be well organized, motivated, resourceful, positive, tactful, community oriented; able to manage time, establish priorities, exercise independent judgment in making decisions, prepare and manage a budget, and speak and write clearly.  Must have or obtain MBLC certification within six (6) months of date of hire.

Anticipated hiring range is $60,259 to $62,702 annually and is commensurate with education and experience.
