Full-time Reference Specialist -, Chelmsford Public Library (Chelmsford)

(This job ad has been updated as of 7/13/20) We have a full-time Reference Specialist position open immediately. Duties:  Provide reference services to the community - in person, on the phone, and through live chat, social media and email reference services. Provide user assistance in using resources in print and online formats, including databases and the internet.  Provide user and staff instruction in technology available for reader’s advisory and reference including e-readers, tablets, phones and computers.  Work with staff to plan and conduct library programs and outreach activities primarily targeted at adults, and especially seniors. Assist with collection development. Work on reference desk.

Qualifications

Must demonstrate strong reference skills and be comfortable with a variety of web applications and social media.  Should have solid technology skills, including web tools and mobile platforms, and a strong desire to teach these skills to the public. Must have strong customer service skills.

Qualifications:  MLS preferred, will consider MLS candidate or an equivalent combination of education and experience; previous experience working in a reference/reader's advisory position desired.

 SALARY:  $22.53 per hr -$30.72 per hr in 10 steps- With MLS: $25.62 per hr -$37.13 per hr in 0 steps
