Reader's Advisory/Reference Specialist, Chelmsford Public Library (Chelmsford)

Duties:  Provide readers advisory services to the community in-person and online. Builds and maintains displays and book lists, provides book talks and programs, and runs book groups. Keeps up to date with reading/ viewing/ listening trends through professional development and popular media. Works some shifts on the public reference desk answering patron questions. Provide user and staff instruction for reader’s advisory and reference including e-readers and reader-related databases and services. Work with staff to plan and conduct library programs and outreach activities primarily targeted at adults. Assist with collection development.

Must demonstrate strong reader's advisory skills and be comfortable with a variety of web applications and social media.  Should have solid technology skills, including web tools and mobile platforms. Must have strong customer service skills. Experience with NoveList and LibraryAware a plus.

Qualifications

Qualifications:  MLS or MLS candidate preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience; previous experience working in a reference or RA position desired. This is a 20 hour per week union position with health benefits, pro-rated vacation and personal time.

With Bachelor's Degree: $22.53 per hr -$30.72 per hr in 10 steps With MLS: $25.62 per hr - $37.13 per hr in 10 steps
