Head - Adult Services Librarian, Westwood Public Library (Westwood)

The Westwood Public Library is seeking a creative and community-focused  professional librarian to fill the position of Head of Adult Services.  The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of professional library principles, practices, and services, as well as a broad background and knowledge in collection development (creating and curating adult collections and resources) and reference and readers' advisory service for adults and young adults.

This position requires an ability to adapt quickly to technology, and a thorough knowledge of print and online resources. Individual will be responsible for planning and executing programs for adults at the Westwood Public Library, including marketing and promotion of events. Individual supervises and trains adult reference librarians, maintains the Adult Services department schedule, and manages the budget lines for the purchase of library materials.  Broad knowledge of emerging technology related to library operations, as well as emerging trends in culture, technology, literature and news is also required.

Public desk staffing is routinely involved.  Position reports to the Library Director.

Position is 35 hours per week; benefit eligible.


Master's in Library Science from an A.L.A.-accredited institution; five years of experience in library operations including acquisitions, reference, and collection development; supervisory experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

$58,222 - $72,712 annual salary range in ten steps.
