Technology Assistant, Morrill Memorial Library (Norwood)

The Morrill Memorial Library in Norwood has an opening for a part-time IT Assistant and you are invited to join an innovative and dynamic team. The Morrill Memorial Library is located just southwest of Boston in Norwood, a traditional but vibrant community of 30,000 located on the MBTA commuter rail with two convenient stops in the town center. There is ample library parking on site off Walpole, Beacon and Winter Streets. An operating budget of nearly $2M allows the library to be a fully-staffed hive of activity during normal operations. There are 56 full and part-time staff, including 18 full and part-time professionals with MLS degrees. There are nine library departments, including IT, facilities, administration, literacy, and outreach.

The Information Technology Assistant assists with the maintenance and development of technology services at the library; develops and delivers technology-related public instruction and services; and provides technology-related training and support for library staff.  This position works under the general supervision of the Library Director and under the direct supervision of the Information Technology Librarian and the Assistant Library Director.

10 hours per week (must be available Saturdays and evenings), $23.50 an hour.


●      Bachelor’s degree, with coursework or concentration in information technology.

●      Enrollment in ALA accredited MLIS degree program preferred.

●      Experience with common office computer applications required.

●      Demonstrated experience in the operation and repair of computers and computer network systems. 

●      Experience with digital video and audio production strongly preferred.

●      Experience providing direct public services to adults, teens and children, including public programming, strongly preferred.
