Reference & Technical Services Librarian, Belmont Public Library (Belmont)

The Belmont Public Library is seeking a Reference & Technical Services Librarian to join their team. The Reference & Technical Service Librarian provides professional reference librarian and information services to library patrons and catalogs library materials. The work is performed under the supervision of the Coordinator of Reference & Public Services and Technology & Technical Services.


Responsibilities include assisting the Coordinator of Technology & Technical Services with original and print cataloging, coordinating all Interlibrary Loan Requests, and managing Commonwealth Catalog requests. In addition the Reference & Technical Services Librarian receives and evaluates requests for information and maintains knowledge of reference materials, research methods, online databases and Internet us. Additional responsibilities include assisting in library collection development, library programs and events as needed and preparing promotional materials, announcements, brochures, press released and related materials as needed. This job has been made available due to an internal promotion. 

This is a full time 35 hour per week position covered under a collective bargaining agreement with the Belmont Librarian’s Association. The starting hourly rate is $29.950 for FY 2021 and qualifies for the Town’s comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and life insurance, paid vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave. This position also qualifies for the Town’s pension plan.

Qualifications

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school with one year of reference and public library experience and knowledge of principles and practices of library work and use of library resources and information technology.
