Library Aide, Randall Library (Stow)

The Town of Stow is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library Aide at the Randall Public Library. This part-time, 19 hour, non-benefit eligible position is responsible for performing various tasks relating to circulation duties of the library, including interacting with patrons at the desk.

·         Registers new patrons;

·         Processes and catalogs new materials into the collection including stamping, stickering, and covering materials;

·         Answers phones including checking voicemails and maintains patron communication by checking emails and Google Forms;

·         Reserves meeting rooms and museum passes;

·         Assist patrons in locating materials in the collection, as well as helping them with the use of computers and copying;

·         Rotates new materials in and out of displays;

·         Performs other circulation duties such as posting patron picks, checking out the Library of Things, and relabeling projects;

·         Performs shelf reading and re-shelving as needed;

·         Maintains door stats during evening shifts;

·         Knowledge of and ability to post to social media;

·         Answers reference questions with the support of the Library Director and other library staff;

·         Promotes and participates in library programs and services and special events as requested by the Library Director;

·         Performs other related duties as required.


High School diploma or equivalent, and six months – one year of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience.   

Knowledge of library methods, procedures, and materials. Experience with downloadable media, internet/browsers, and proficiency in Microsoft Office necessary.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.   Ability to maintain good public relations and deal with members of the public in a pleasant and courteous manner.  Ability to prioritize tasks.
