Head of Circulation, Reuben Hoar Library (Littleton)

Facilitates and manages all Interlibrary Loans: researching, locating, ordering, and processing materials for patrons from outside the Library's network, as well as sending out materials to other libraries. Maintains the Book Club Kits and makes monthly selections for the Laid-Back Book Club.
Locates and obtains materials and information for research projects and in-depth reference questions using the Library's databases, ILL services, and the Internet.
Oversees and participates in all activities about circulation: registration of patrons, providing information and assistance to patrons, interpreting library policies for the public, enforcing library regulations, referring patrons to other agencies as appropriate, reserving museum passes, preparing overdue notices and handling fines, checking in and out of materials, shelving, and booking of meeting rooms. Assists in collection development by reviewing journals for material selections and supervising weeding and discarding.
Has constant contact with the general public and library staff. Serves as liaison to local schools, municipal staff, community groups, and other libraries. Has access to confidential patron records. Responsible for handling patron concerns and patron problem resolution. Resolves issues with other libraries.
Represents the Library at regional Interlibrary Loan and Circulation meetings, bringing back new information and training staff. Continues education by attending professional meetings, courses, and workshops in Library related services and subjects. Reads professional literature.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, preferably in liberal arts; and at least 3 to 5 years of experience in public library service; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Mass. Board of Library Certification BLT.
This is a Grade 9 benefit eligible, an exempt position classified under the Town's Classification and Compensation Plan. Starting pay range is $$59,946 to $74,896/year commensurate with experience. Employee benefits include county pension, Blue Cross health insurance, dental, life insurance, and short and long-term disability.
