Assistant Director / Adult Services Librarian, Thayer Memorial Library (Lancaster)

The Assistant Director / Adult Services assists the Director in harmonizing and managing the Library's activities, coordinating website development, overseeing circulation and adult services, administering the special and museum collections, and a lot of other fun and interesting things.

Qualifications

Must be adept with Microsoft Excel, Outlook PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word. Facility with WordPress, Microsoft Access, and Evergreen OPAC desirable. Proficiency in handling computer hardware and equipment and understanding related processes.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills balancing formality and friendliness. Establishes and maintains a positive and productive environment to achieve overall Library goals—an articulate spokesperson for the Director and, as needed, the Board of Trustees. 

Excellent organizational skills. Blocks out distractions, sets priorities, multitasks, delegates as needed, works with frequent interruptions, and effectively meets deadlines. Initiates work independently or with little supervision.

Exercises sound judgment and calm in unusual or challenging circumstances. Quickly adjusts to new and sometimes unexpected situations. Able to understand the implications of decisions. Invokes ideas for complex problems. Diplomatic without sidestepping critical issues. Builds exceptional team spirit and direction.

Knowledge of and interest in literature and Library services

High level of humility, motivation, and emotional intelligence. Exceptionally conscientious. Understands the big picture.

Authoritative knowledge of job responsibilities.

Salary Notes

This is a 36 hours per week position. Two evenings and Saturdays.
