STAFF LIBRARIAN – Digital Services, Lunenburg Public Library (Lunenburg)

Leads in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the Library’s Digital Services. Has responsibility for the overall suite of Digital Library Services which include E-Content, E-Resource access and acquisitions, and E-Readers. Plans and executes marketing for the Library’s Digital Services. Oversees the Library’s overall social media program including Facebook pages, bulk email program and other platforms. Maintains library’s website, assists with updates. Assists Library Director in ensuring the library’s server and staff computers are updated and running reliably. Assists patrons and other staff members with technology training and problem resolution.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Library Science, or M.Ed. degree with library experience; 2 years’ of experience in technology/digital services; or any combination of education and experience. Experience with the Internet, E-Readers, social media, databases, website management and Library systems (Evergreen) preferred.

Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of library services and programs. Must be knowledgeable about E-content, E-Readers, Website editing and maintenance, and basic office technologies, Library systems -Evergreen software or other online cataloging/library system, ability to troubleshoot common hardware and software problems and the willingness to learn and implement new technologies.

Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with the staff and the public. Ability to interact courteously and effectively with people of all ages. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to coordinate work flow and adapt to a variety of tasks and situations. Ability to initiate, organize and follow through on programs, services, and projects. Ability to work with the technical jargon and translate that to the library workplace.


Strong project management, planning and organizational skills. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills. Strong oral and written communication and computer skills. Expertise with the internet, databases, Microsoft Office, library systems - Evergreen software or other
online cataloging/library system. Ability to troubleshoot common hardware and software problems and the willingness to learn and implement new technologies. Strong visionary skills to seek innovative uses of technology to further library service goals.
