Collection Management Librarian - Remote, ACCUFILE, INC. (Lexington)

This is a project-based position with an estimated project duration of 3 - 4 months for the express purpose of deaccessioning collections in preparation for discard. This project will have a combination of an onsite and remote requirement and Travel to Princeton, NJ & Washington, DC is required.  Hours can be part-time or full-time as long as project is completed in allotted timeframe of 3-4 months.

Essential Functions:

Solidify the criteria for deaccessioning and the criteria for items or collections to retain

Deaccession and coordinate the elimination of all print collections for facilities in DC and NJ 

Develop and coordinate a digitization process for print titles to be transferred to digital format

Modify all records related to discarded and relocated materials, including the integrated library system, research guides, and other references to library collections 

Identify potential information gaps as a result of discarding the physical collection

Review of the kits and archival materials, which are important parts of the collection and are to be retained, and to develop identifiers as a unique collection type in the EOS catalog

Coordinate with Facilities personnel for the staging and disposal of discarded items

Provide a written progress report on a monthly basis to the client and to Accufile

Qualifications

Prior library experience in managing large collections

A qualified candidate will have specific, significant experience with deaccessioning / withdrawing materials, whether routine daily activity or major projects

Strong library cataloging experience, particularly EOS

Working with library stakeholders to review and modify records

Familiarity and knowledge of Library Guides

Project management experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills; Must be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders and senior management team.  

Strong customer service attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently.  

Other:

Travel to Princeton, NJ & Washington, DC is required

Must be willing to agree to any COVID-19-related protocols put in place by client which includes providing proof of COVID-19 vaccination, wearing face coverings and other personal protective equipment as required, and completing a short daily health assessment.
