Job Type: Part-Time Permanent 
Timeframe: Up to 10 Hours per week / 30 weeks a year 
Shift: Between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  (actual work hours will depend on hire)
Regular Days Off: Saturday and Sunday
Supervision Received: Receives direct supervision and support from the Head of the Education Resources Center who provides procedural and technical guidance, assigns work and reviews performance through inspection, reports, and conferences for effectiveness and compliance with established standards, procedures, policies, rules and regulations.
Supervision Exercised: Directs the work of some student employees.
Salary: $16.00 Per hour 

General Statement of Duties: 
The part-time Library Assistant, Education Resources Center, provides curriculum collections and project assistance and maintains the ERC collection in support of the Teacher Education Program at WSU.  The Library Assistant is responsible for training and coaching student assistants throughout the semester and works closely with the Head of the Education Resources Center.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but not limited to:


> Provides ERC collections and project assistance.
> Assists students, faculty, and staff with the Education Resources collection and occasionally with the general library, informing users of rules and policies; assists users in finding materials.
> Oversees maintenance of ERC Kits and circulating collection.
> Maintains order of the test collection and supervises student assistant use.
> Trains and coaches student assistants in shelf maintenance of education materials so that shelves look neat and clean, call number order is accurate, shelf list cards are filed accurately.
> Creating informational and eye-catching displays of ERC materials.
> Completing special projects for students as assigned.
> Shares assignment of work to student employees performing clerical-level work such as filing, re-shelving books, taking statistics, and conducting inventories of kit contents and ERC collections.
> Contributes to continual quality improvement of services by suggesting improvements to supervisor.

Special Projects including but not limited to:

> Conducting preliminary research of new materials in assigned ERC categories.
> Reviewing older materials for potential withdrawal based on condition and relevancy.
> Under supervision of ERC Head, create online guides for public use.
> Provide support for teaching activities of Department Head.
> Performs other tasks as assigned, such as participating in library-wide projects and supporting special events.


Required Qualifications:

> High School Diploma and two years of work experience in a service environment
> Experience with MS Office productivity applications including Word and Excel
> Strong time-management skills
> Evidence of strong organizational skills and attention to detail
> Strong interpersonal communications skills
> Strong customer service ethic
> Ability to work alone and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications: 

> Bachelor's degree or an Associate Degree and two years of full-time work experience
> Experience supervising others in a work environment
> Library experience
> Experience in the field of elementary education
> Other work experiences with children
> Physical Capabilities:  Sit or stand for extended periods of time; Lift up to 20 lbs. and push/pull library carts full of books; Ability to bend, stoop, reach and use step stools to reach shelves
