Associate Director of MacPhaidin Library for Public Services, Stonehill College (Easton)

The Associate Director of MacPhaidin Library for Public Services and Research is part of the MacPhaidin Library management team. In this role, the Associate Director will work with the Access Services Librarian to oversee a merged service desk and will develop the library’s research, teaching, and reference vision for the college through our multifaceted information skills curriculum. This position works closely and collaboratively with faculty from across campus and all librarians to support students’ mastery of the specific departmental and library information skills curriculum learning outcomes. This position will develop ways to integrate the technology of the Digital Innovation Lab into the library. The position is part of the Director’s management team and must work collaboratively with the Director and the management team to ensure the development and delivery of library resources and services and promote their incorporation into the fabric of academic life at the College.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Management 
* Manage a team of 3+ FTE reference librarians on the Reference & Research Team; Manage 1 FTE Access Services Librarian and the Access Services Team. 
* Hire, train, supervise, assign, administer, and evaluate the work of the Reference & Research Team, and work with the Access Services Librarian to evaluate the work of the Access Services Team;  
 *Collaborate with the Faculty Director of the Digital Innovation Lab to manage staff and projects 
* Implement and shepherd departmental and individual goals and objectives; 
* Develop and oversee procedures for user engagement tools such as the Library website, LibGuides, and LibAnswers, MyHill Library Channel, Digital Commons, ELearn and the library newsletter. 
*Assign projects and provide project management support to the Reference & Research Team and the Access Services Librarian, monitor and advise on progress. Provide guidance and facilitate professional development of all team librarians as needed to support projects. 
* Manage the implementation of the Information Skills Curriculum by facilitating faculty-librarian partnerships and identifying professional development opportunities for Reference & Research Team members to best meet faculty and student information literacy needs. 
*Oversee the integration of the Digital Innovation Lab into the library. Develop a plan for moving forward to support the lab and expand use among students and staff. 
*As part of the Director’s Library Management Team, collaborate on the development, implementation, and assessment of Library strategic planning priorities and contribute to leadership of strategic planning discussions with the library staff. 
* Manage subject liaisons’ collection development and resource sharing activities, in conjunction with the Collections Librarian, to ensure that liaison work supports the College curriculum. 
 
Research, Reference and Instruction 
*Participate in the delivery of information services to faculty, staff, and students: 
* Actively strive to foster and maintain a workplace climate that is supportive of all employees regardless of their identity, respectful of difference and genuinely open to multiple perspectives; 
* Direct the implementation of the Information Skills Curriculum; 
* Create and implement assessment programs including learning analytics and classroom information skills curriculum learning objectives; 
* Develop and direct the library’s participation in the First Year Experience Digital and Information Literacy week; 
* Provide one-on-one consultations for students on an on-call basis and as requested by faculty for specific course assignments, through both in-person meetings and online platforms; 
* Collaborate with faculty to identify and research solutions for information needs within their courses; 
* Create learning objects within eLearn (Blackboard) for Library learning modules and individual faculty member’s courses; 
* Lead information skills sessions both in subject liaison areas and across the curriculum as needed; 
* Act as a subject liaison to assigned departments, including resource evaluation and selection; 
* Maintain an active record of professional development and engagement; 
* Serve as Library ex-officio member of College committees, e.g. the Curriculum Committee; 
* Purposefully promote an inclusive learning environment for all students that encourages personal growth, self-reflection, critical thinking and academic success

Qualifications

Five years of library public services experience in an academic library setting preferred. Two years experience in collection development.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
* Excellent customer service skills, excellent collaborator 
* Project management experience 
* Ability to work with faculty to build digital content for online and face-to-face courses 
* Proven ability to work and lead effectively in a highly diverse campus community 
* Demonstrated capacity to develop and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and organizations reflecting a broad range of identities, perspectives and experiences 
 
Preferred Skills and Abilities: 
* Experience with the BlackBoard Learning Management System 
* Shared service desk experience preferred 
* Familiarity implementing and assessing ACRL Frameworks for Information Literacy in Higher Education 
* Awareness of current trends in digital publishing
