Library Director, Tyngsborough Public Library (Tyngsborough)

The Tyngsborough Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking a candidate with a strong public service commitment to administer and manage the functions, activities and operations of the Library. This position requires a resourceful, energetic and diplomatic individual able to work collaboratively with an experienced Library staff and the Board of Trustees. The successful candidate will be a creative leader who possesses broad experience in managing traditional and evolving library services. 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

·       Plans, manages and supervises the operation of the Library

·       Prepares, presents and administers annual budgets; directs expenditure of Library funds 

·       Oversees the selection of materials to be added to the circulating collection

·       Manages all aspects of technology-related Library functions

·       Works with the Board of Trustees in planning the future direction of the Library

·       Recruits, selects and trains departmental personnel

·       Directs and implements the Library’s public relations programs

·       Maintains circulation statistics and other records of Library activities

·       Provides reference and reader’s advisory assistance 

·       Oversees the general maintenance of the Library building and grounds 


Master’s Degree in Library Science from an A. L. A. accredited school; five years of progressively responsible experience in professional library work, including three years of administrative and supervisory responsibility at a public or private library or any equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary Range

$66,000.00 - $73,000.00  / year
