Reference Librarian, Springfield City Library (Springfield)

Springfield (MA) City Library has an entry-level, full-time (37.5 hours/week) Librarian position at our Brightwood Branch Library, due to a promotion. The person hired for this position will create programs for people of all ages, but especially teens and children, answer reference questions, provide reader’s advisory, and engage with the community, among other duties. This branch features a large programming room, many schools in the immediate area to partner with, and an enthusiastic community. The annual salary is $50,538. Bachelor’s degree and completion of an American Library Association accredited Master of Library Science.

Thorough knowledge of information provision theory and practice.
Specialized knowledge of reading interests and developmental stages of children, teens, and/or adults.
Ability to demonstrate vision, strategic thinking, collaboration and inclusive leadership skills, flexibility and adaptability and a willingness to embrace and drive change.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Creative problem solving skills.

Salary Notes

Opportunity to work extra hours (optional). Extra Sunday hours paid at time and a half.
