Adult Services Librarian, Wilbraham Public Library (Wilbraham)

Plans, implements, and evaluates programs and events for adults including acting as a liaison with Friends of the Library.  Participates at the circulation desk and provides reference services to library patrons including answering reference questions, assisting customers in the proper use of library technologies systems and serving as an adult reader's advisor. Requests interlibrary loan materials for out-of-state requests; places patron holds on library books and materials; selects adult fiction and non-fiction library materials and maintains a balanced collection; Schedule is Monday and Wednesday 3:00-8:00 p.m., Fridays noon-5:00 p.m., and alternating weekend hours.


Graduate of four year college, Master’s Degree in Library Science from a program accredited with the American Library Association strongly preferred; 1-2 years of experience in library services, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job; knowledge of library science and management principles, practices and procedures, library programs, services, and operations, or excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent customer service skills. Proficiency in use of applicable computer software, e-mail and the internet.
