Program Coordinator, Massachusetts Center for the Book (Northampton)

Massachusetts Center for the Book seeks a full-time program coordinator to oversee current programs and help the organization plan for future growth. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the coordinator will be expected to plan and execute programs, manage related activities, including budgeting and reporting, and collaborate with the communications associate on publicity and media relations.  

|| Responsibilities ||

- Plan and support the organization of a program and its activities.

- Ensure that policies and best practices are followed.

- Keep a record of the budget and expenses.

- Provide the communications associate with timely information for publicity and promotion through traditional and social media outlets.

- Facilitate growth and program development.


|| Workplace ||

The position will be based in the Center’s new Northampton office.  Some travel in the commonwealth is expected, and a driver’s license is required.

The coordinator will work collaboratively with two staff members and may oversee program-specific part-time workers. Some flex time will be possible, and a hybrid schedule will be possible. There will be some in-office work requirements, however, and so priority will be given to applicants within reasonable commuting distance of Northampton.

|| Compensation ||



Starting salary in the $45,000 to $50,000 range.  A percentage of annual salary is paid monthly in lieu of health care benefits.

Qualifications

|| Requirements ||


- Bachelor’s degree required.   Advanced degree a plus.

- Prior experience as a program coordinator desirable. Familiarity with the commonwealth library and literary communities highly desirable.

- Good computer knowledge and tech savvy.

- Excellent communication and people skills.

- Understanding of report writing and other recordkeeping (e.g., Excel spreadsheets)

- Excellent time management, organizational and multitasking ability.

- Detail oriented with good problem solving ability.
