Part-Time Circulation Technician, Lynnfield Public Library (Lynnfield)

Serves as a library technician in the Circulation Department. Provides a wide variety of basic library services using an automated library circulation system, requiring some substantive knowledge of the library’s collections, services, systems, policies and procedures. Works under the general supervision of the Head of Circulation who assigns work, outlines work procedures, and provides training and technical guidance as necessary.  Duties are generally performed on one’s own initiative in accordance with established procedures, referring unusual problems to supervisor. Provides high level of customer service to patrons of all ages through assistance in all areas of material circulation using working knowledge of computerized circulation system (Evergreen) and equipment. Performs circulation desk procedures, including, but not limited to checking in and checking out of materials, registering new patrons, updating patron accounts, and collecting fines and payments for copies.  Provides assistance in retrieving materials within the Library building (this includes adult, young adult, and children’s materials); guidance in the use of photocopy equipment; and answering and directing telephone calls.  Sorts and routes mail. Carries out projects as assigned. 


Graduation from college or the equivalent academic and/or professional experience. 

Upon hiring, applicants must be able to work a minimum of twelve (12) hours per week in particular shifts to be determined. In addition, this employee will join our Saturday rotation, working a half day one Saturday per four-week rotation.
