Director, Norfolk Public Library (Norfolk)

The Town of Norfolk is seeking a Director for the Norfolk Public Library. Norfolk is a rural, suburban town, with a population of 11,662, located in Norfolk County, Massachusetts approximately 35 miles southwest of Boston. The Norfolk Public Library is attractive and inviting, having been expanded and remodeled in 2005. It's FY 22 budget is $672,917 and is staffed by 4 full-time and 9 part-time staff. The library is part of the SAILS network; has a collection of over 174,000 items; and circulated 86,221 physical items in 2021. A hub of community activity and a town treasure, the library is generously supported by an active Friends organization. The Director is responsible for leading and managing all daily operations of the library. The Director works closely with the Board of Trustees to establish goals; prepare an annual budget; and develop and and revise library policies. The Director reports directly to the Board of Trustees and works with other Town officials such as the Town Administrator, Facilities Director, and Finance Director. The Director is responsible for ensuring that the library operates in compliance with library and town policies as well as state regulations and the requirements of the MBLC. 


Requires a Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited graduate school and a Certificate of Professional Librarianship issued by the MBLC. The position is 40 hours per week.
