Circulation Supervisor, Morse Institute Library (Natick)

The Morse Institute Library is searching for its next Circulation Supervisor due to an upcoming retirement, with a start date anticipated in July 2022. The position oversees the overall functioning of the Circulation department, as well as supervision of Circulation staff.

A candidate for this position will be responsible for managing, supervising, and scheduling the circulation staff, as well as creating circulation procedures for the library. The Circulation Supervisor hires and trains circulation staff, and participates in direct service to the community of Natick. The Circulation Supervisor also handles patron complaints and resolves issues relating to the circulation of materials, and ensures that all staff are well-trained in maintaining patron privacy and confidentiality.

The Circulation Supervisor will work as a member of the library’s leadership team to promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all library staff. The candidate will also be able to prepare and present complex technical and statistical reports as
relates to their department.

The Circulation Supervisor will have opportunities for professional development, and the chance to work on special projects as desired, or as designated by library administration. The library will be starting a year-long diversity audit of its collections, and the Circulation Supervisor, along with the leadership team, will be an integral part of this project.

This is a full-time position starting at $36.37/hr. This is a full-time non-exempt position. The Town of Natick offers excellent employee benefits.


The Circulation Supervisor must have earned a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited institution; must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a library setting with increasing levels of supervisory responsibilities; and must have the ability to work well in a team environment, with excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills. In exceptional circumstances, specialized education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for part of the educational requirements.
