Reference Librarian with a Children's Services focus, Springfield City Library (Springfield)

This full-time, 37.5 hours/week job, is based at the Sixteen Acres Branch Library, located in a neighborhood that brings suburbia to the city with a diverse housing stock, many parks and other recreational options, shops, and easy access to Downtown and interstate highways alike.  Apply by Sunday, August 7, 2022.

The Reference Librarian is part of a nine person branch team and has shared responsibility for reference services, reader's advisory, tech assistance, collection maintenance of print and non-print materials, programming, outreach, community engagement, and similar duties pertaining to adult and/or youth services, with a focus on grade school age youth. Work is performed under the direction of the Branch Supervisor and the Branch Manager.

We're looking for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree and the completion of an American Library Association-accredited Masters of Library Science. Candidates currently enrolled in an MLS program may also be considered. You'll need an excellent customer service orientation, and a "turned outward" approach to community engagement is ideal. Bilingual abilities desirable (English and Spanish, Russian, Vietnamese, Arabic, Somali, Dari, or other community language). The City of Springfield has a residency requirement and allows new hires up to a year to establish residency.
