Children's Services Associate, Morse Institute Library (Natick)

Due to a recent promotion, the Morse Institute Library is searching for its next Children’s Services Associate in the Children’s Services Department. The position assists with the programming for the Children’s department, as well as staffs the services desks as needed.

The Children’s Services Associate will work as a member of the Children’s Services Department to promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all library staff. A candidate for this position assists the Programming Librarian for Children’s Services with the development, implementation, and evaluation of a wide variety of programs for children to encourage reading, viewing and listening, and other developmental skills. They will coordinate programs and activities at the direction of the Programming Librarian for Children’s Services, and also work with school librarians, teachers’ groups, parents, and community organizations as appropriate for programming purposes.

The Children’s Services Associate will help the Programming Librarian- Children’s Services to create and maintain content for the library’s social media channels, website, and other online resources, as well as create booklists and displays as needed for the department. And they will be able to provide exemplary reference and reader’s advisory services for children, parents, caregivers, teachers, and other adults, and look for opportunities for patrons to feel welcome.

The Children’s Services Associate must have earned a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a library setting with experience in children’s services. The successful candidate must have the ability to work well in a team environment, with excellent interpersonal skills. In exceptional circumstances, specialized education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for part of the educational requirements.
