Library Associate I, Conant Public Library (Sterling)

The Town of Sterling seeks two qualified candidates to fill two 32 hours-per-week, benefitted positions of Library Associate I at the Conant Public Library.

Primary responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

●       Provides customer services at the circulation desk and other service points

●       Receives program feedback and maintains program statistics

●       Offers personalized Reader’s Advisory

●       Assists Head of Youth Services with craft and program prep

●       Creates and facilitates programs for people of all ages

●       Facilitates a bimonthly adult book club

●       Handles promotion of library programs and materials through social media, press releases and flyers

●       Creates and maintains library displays

●       Manages library museum pass program

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the library’s program planning team who creates and facilitates programs for patrons of all ages and provides excellent customer service during daily circulation desk shifts. Receives program feedback and maintains monthly program statistics. Conducts a bi-monthly book discussion. Maintains museum pass program as well as library displays.

Schedules for these positions are as followed:

Position 1:  Mondays and Wednesdays 9:30-5:30

                    Tuesdays and Thursdays 12-8

                    Saturday rotation

Position 2:  Mondays and Wednesdays 12-8

                    Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:30-5:30

                    Saturday rotation

Qualifications

Good knowledge of grammar and spelling. Computer operations such as Microsoft Office and other applications. Basic knowledge of library operations and databases used in a library setting. Skills using technology are essential, and experience with the Evergreen ILS is an asset. Experience with social media and Canva preferred.

Minimum qualifications: An Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts or a related field; one to three years of prior work experience, preferably in a library; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
