Graduate Librarian 4 - Community Services Branch Manager - Frances Perkins Branch, Worcester Public Library (Worcester)

This position is a professional, supervisory position reporting directly to the Community Services Coordinator.  This Community Services Branch Manager will be responsible for supervising the daily operations of assigned branches –including the supervision of staff, assisting patrons of all ages, and managing the adult collections at multiple locations.  The incumbent will be a service-oriented professional who delivers gratifying experiences for library customers, and connects them to the information they seek. The ideal person in this position will possess excellent communication and customer service skills, possess comprehensive knowledge of both traditional and emerging reference services and practices, and have experience working with diverse populations in an urban community. 

Schedule will include evenings and weekend hours and working at other locations and on mobile services vehicles as assigned.

·         MLS/MLIS from a library school accredited by the American Library Association or approved by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners

·         Three (3) years of professional library work after receipt of MLS. 

·         Broad working knowledge of general reference practices in a public library. 

·         Two (2) years of supervisory experience in public, academic, special library or within a similar adult services field 

·         Ability to successfully pass CORI/SORI

·         Reliable transportation to travel between required locations.
