Operations Assistant, Auburn Public Library (Auburn)

The Auburn Public Library is offering up to two temporary positions available to qualified candidates. Positions will be in place for a minimum of 2 months, with the possibility of extensions.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of six months experience in a public library using Evergreen and aptitude and ability for working on projects as directed by the Library Director or Library Administrators.

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with all staff, management, patrons, and other stakeholders.  An aptitude for dealing diplomatically, enthusiastically, patiently, and consistently with the public, incorporating an outstanding public service demeanor that upholds confidentiality, integrity, and discretion is essential. The ability to understand, follow, and communicate detailed oral and written instructions and maintain and provide data relating to the position responsibilities is also vital. The candidate must be committed to working in a respectful, team-oriented environment, and be accountable, dependable, and reliable.

Basic technology skills are required.  Enthusiasm for assisting with programs in a variety of task-level capacities within the parameters of the position are important elements of this position. The candidate must be able to ‘switch gears’ often, thrive on multi-tasking, and contribute positive energies to the work environment.

Candidate must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; lift up to 35 pounds; see, speak, and hear at a normal rate; understand and apply respectful inter-personal dynamics in the work place; and use equipment related to library and office-oriented tasks. This is often a very busy, fast-paced library. Candidates must be able to work both dependently and independently, work to high standards for quality and quantity of work, and demonstrate a continuous desire and ability to learn.

The position(s) pay $30 per hour, for a range of 20-35 hours per week, as determined between the candidates and the Director. No benefits. One to two Saturday shifts per month required, from 10:00am – 1:00pm.
