Staff Librarian-Local History/Archives, Levi Heywood Memorial Library (Gardner)
Primary responsibilities of this position include the following:
Identify, appraise, collect, arrange, describe, preserve and provide access to materials pertaining to the history of the City of Gardner and surrounding community. Provide specialized reference assistance using traditional and electronic resources. Look for grant funding opportunities for preservation activities. Identify preservation issues and priorities for materials in all formats.
Qualifications
Experience with historical collections preferred. Bachelor’s degree required. Strong interest in the history of Gardner and surrounding community. Interest in genealogy. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Comfortable using computers and basic office machinery.
Must be available 12-16 hours per week. Hours are Wednesdays from 3pm to 7pm, Fridays from 9am to 1pm, and 2 Saturdays a month from 9am to 1pm (September through May). One additional 4 hour shift per week can be decided upon at time of hire.
