Library Director, Sandown Public Library (Sandown, NH)
The Board of Trustees of the Sandown Public Library in Sandown, New Hampshire, is looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Director to work with and lead their excellent and skilled staff. We would like a Director with strong communication skills to promote the Library and help to spur its continuing growth. The Sandown Public Library plays an important role in a growing community with a current population of approximately 6,200 people. The Director performs all managerial duties related to planning, organizing, staffing, budgeting, reporting, programming and building operations. The Library Director is expected to work successfully with staff, the board, and community stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will bring a dedication to providing quality service, ensuring access for all, and upholding the freedom to read. S/he will strive to keep a positive attitude, maintain a learning mindset, adapt to change, and be flexible when needed. S/he will possess a broad range of library skills, have strong technology skills, and will be adept at prioritizing work tasks. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science and four years’ progressive library experience including supervisory experience required. A Master’s degree is preferred. Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of modern library systems and programs; library collection classification and selection techniques; equipment and facilities required in a comprehensive library system; community library needs and resources; computers, principles and practices of office management, work organization and supervision.
